Tikkun Olam

Tikkun Olam, repairing or perfecting the world, is an ancient Jewish tradition reflecting the responsibility of Jewish people to participate in the creation of a world based on the Jewish values of peace, compassion, justice and brotherhood. The idea of Tikkun Olam , represents the Jewish belief that the main role of every person in the world is improve himself or herself and to strive for a better society based on  equality, peace, freedom and social justice. A person is responsible not only for himself but for his fellow human-beings and his environment. Therefore, whenever he encounters a person in need or in distress it his duty to help him. By doing so, he is not only experiences immense personal growth; he also greatly influences the world around him, making it a better place.
